It calmed me down and it was good. CONTRIBUTEDArticle contentTEAM INVITEArticle contentA couple of days after the tournament, Bushnik received an email informing her that she was invited to be part of Team Nova Scotia for the Canadian Women’s Mid-Amateur Golf Championship next month in Burlington, Ont.Article contentArticle content“It was totally shocking,” said Bushnik, who golfs out of Seaview Golf and Country Club in North Sydney.Article contentArticle content“I had no idea I was going to be part of the team. I was going to go there as an individual anyway, but to represent Nova Scotia is really cool.”Article contentBushnik started her golf career by taking lessons when she was six years old at Richmond Hill Golf Club in Ontario with her parents, but shortly after decided to step away from the game.Article content“I played out some of their rounds, but I stopped for 10 years because I found it a bit boring on the course,” said Bushnik, who graduated as an electrical engineer and is now working as a computer programmer with Nexus Networks.Article contentShe would return to the sport when she was 16 years old at Tam O’Shanter Golf Club, a municipal course in Toronto, and has been playing ever since. Bushnik has played at some of the top golf courses in the country in recent years, including Bear Mountain Golf Club in Langford, B.C.Article contentBushnik moved to Cape Breton in 2018 while she was attending St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish and Dalhousie University in Halifax and was quickly introduced to the local golf scene at Seaview Golf and Country Club.
