Article contentArticle content“The new look has been developed with clear, distinctive markings to help us stand out from non-police vehicles,” RCMP media relations officer Paul Northcott said in an email.Article contentEach province, territory and municipality will have optional identifiers they can include on their RCMP vehicles, ranging from crests to regional markings. Article contentThe first newly branded vehicles are expected in Nova Scotia next year. Article content“In 2027, as our fleet is renewed over time, you’ll see both the current and new vehicles serving communities across the province. This gradual rollout ensures public funds are used responsibly,” Northcott said. Article contentWhen asked if the force is concerned about people impersonating RCMP vehicles, especially with two different colour schemes in service at the same time, Northcott noted safety is their top priority and that the public can verify what is and isn’t a police vehicle. Article content“If the public is ever unsure whether a RCMP vehicle or person is a legitimate RCMP police officer, they can call their local RCMP detachment to verify the car number, license plate, or police officer’s name or badge number,” he stated.Article contentCurrent vehicles will remain in service until they’re deemed ready for replacement.
