Published 12:32 pm Wednesday, October 14, 2026 The Kwanlin Dün Cultural Centre played host to Whitehorse’s runway show over the weekend with the launch of the first ever Whitehorse Fashion Week event. Put on by the Canadian National Fashion Show, the event saw dozens of models representing designers from across Canada take to the runway to show off the latest in fashion and design. The show was not without some local talent however. According to Annie Munjuran, founder and CEO of the Canadian National Fashion Show (CNFS), the production featured several Whitehorse based designers and over two dozen local models walking on the runway. Munjuran said the show was a hit, selling beyond the initial number of tickets offered and leaving her staff scrambling to add chairs in order to accommodate last minute front door sales. “It was fantastic,” Munjran said. “We had a lot of door sales [with] 200-plus people in the most amazing venue at the Kwanlin Dun Cultural Centre.” According to Munjuran, Whitehorse’s thriving arts and culture scene lends itself well to organizing an event like Whitehorse Fashion Week. “Storytelling is what attracted me to the Yukon. Everything has a story, everything has a lot of art. Whitehorse has a lot of artists,” Munjuran said. “They just need a place to showcase that art and that’s where fashion meets art and that’s what I do through my shows.” Munjuran said the vibrance of the territory’s art and culture scene alongside the warm reception she and her team received from Yukoners left a lasting impression. “[There is] such a great culture and so much art in the Yukon,” Munjuran said. “The way they welcomed me; I can never forget it.” Munjuran said while this year’s show served as a trial run for an event in the Yukon, she now feels confident the event will be returning next year. “It’s a big decision [but] yes we are going to come back to Whitehorse again next year,” Munjuran said. “I was just testing the waters to see how it was going to be and it turned out fantastic.”
