He represented himself at sentencing.Article contentArticle contentArticle contentThe factsArticle contentIn terms of the facts, federal Crown attorney Emma Halliday told the court that on April 9, 2026, members of the P.E.I. joint enforcement team (JET) were conducting surveillance on Arsenault at a residence on Moore Drive in Charlottetown. JET is a policing unit comprised of officers from the RCMP, Summerside Police Services and Kensington Police Services that investigates drug and organized crime matters. The surveillance was part of an investigation into Arsenault trafficking cocaine, fentanyl and methamphetamine.Article contentOn that date, officers saw Arsenault in the front yard of the Moore Drive residence, and then place a black bag in the trunk of a Nissan Micra with a Nova Scotia licence plate. Police followed the Nissan to the P.E.I. liquor store parking lot on Minna Jane Drive in Charlottetown and arrested Arsenault, who was sitting in the front passenger seat, for drug possession for trafficking purposes. Police also arrested the driver — Andrew James Myers — and a 30-year-old female passenger for the same drug charges.Article contentArticle contentArsenault was searched and police seized $464.25 in cash from his wallet, a few loose coins, a pink cellphone and keys. Police also searched the vehicle and located a total of 33.1 grams of cocaine (including 5.3 grams of crack cocaine), two iPhones, a Motorola cellphone, 38.2 grams of a cutting agent, a digital scale with cocaine residue, 50 small plastic dime bags and $837.35 in cash.Article contentArticle contentInside the vehicle’s trunk was a black bag with a lock box. Police searched the lock box and found $4,600 in cash, 330.9 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 37.2 grams of fentanyl, a digital scale, 25 small plastic dime bags and another cellphone.Article contentArsenault provided a statement to police and initially said he knew nothing about the drugs. When officers told Arsenault they saw him put the black bag with the lock box into the vehicle’s trunk, he admitted that the drugs and items were his and he trafficked to support his own drug habit. He said he was sober for over four years and messed up.
