PCs on Aug. 13, the Rob Lantz campaign raised at least $70,350. The campaign of Mark Ledwell raised at least $66,100.Article contentArticle contentArticle contentLantz won the PC leadership with a margin of 53 per cent of votes cast to Ledwell’s 47 per cent. That vote effectively chose the premier of P.E.I., who could remain in power until the next general election, scheduled for October 2027, is called.Article contentThe rules for the PC leadership race required the party to disclose the names of all persons who contributed more than $250, as well as the amount contributed. For those who contributed less than $250, only their names were released publicly, not their contribution amount.Article contentDonations were capped at $3,300 per person. Kelly Lantz is the premier’s wife and a prominent Charlottetown real estate agent.Article contentMark Rodd also donated $2,000 to the Lantz campaign. A Mark Rodd is the president of the Rodd Hotels and Resorts. Tim Banks, the well-known developer and CEO of APM MacLean, is also listed as donating $1,500 to Lantz’s campaign.Article contentThe top six highest donors to the Mark Ledwell campaign were Joe Velaidum ($3,300), Regis and Joan Duffy ($3,300 each), Madelyn Driscoll ($3,000), Ray Murphy ($3,000) and Jan Matejcek ($3,000).Article contentA Joe Velaidum is listed on the UPEI website as an associate professor of religious studies. Regis and Joan Duffy are both well known for their local philanthropy. Regis founded Diagnostic Chemicals Limited in 1970, which later became BioVectra.
