All five voyeurism offences were committed Sept. 12, 2025, which was his 45th birthday.Article contentCrown attorney Sarah Gordon read a brief summary of the facts into the record after Faltas entered the guilty pleas.Article contentGordon said the device also contained a video of Faltas setting up the camera in the dispenser and then sitting down on the toilet to confirm the camera was lined up properly.Article contentJudge Mark Heerema ordered a presentence report on Faltas at the request of defence lawyer Pat Atherton and scheduled his sentencing hearing for Sept. 29.Article contentArticle contentAtherton said lawyers will not have a joint sentencing recommendation for the court’s consideration. He said the defence intends to rely on a comprehensive psychiatric report that it has given to the Crown.Article contentThe report provides “relevant context to the court with respect to Mr. Faltas’s mental state at the time these offences took place,” Atherton said.Article contentGordon said she anticipates at least one victim impact statement to be filed for the sentencing.Article contentFaltas first appeared in court on the charges last December. A Nov. 13 undertaking to police prohibits him from possessing any device that records video, attending the Lawtons store and communicating with any staff members.Article contentAnother electronic device was found hidden in a washroom at the same store in May 2024. The device was inoperable, and no arrests were made before police closed the investigation due to insufficient evidence.Article content
